Gudauri is roughly a 2-hour drive from Tbilisi. You can get there by car or minibus. The road to Gudauri is always cleared of snow, and it's easy to reach by any vehicle. However, during heavy snowfall, restrictions come into effect, and travel is only permitted with anti-skid chains.

Ski Slopes

The natural conditions in Gudauri turned out to be the main prerequisite for developing a mountain ski resort. The first cable car was built in 1988. Today, Gudauri has 14 cable cars, most of which were built by the well-known Austrian company Doppelmayr. The lower lift station sits at 1,993 meters above sea level, while the upper one reaches 3,276 meters. The lifts operate daily from 10:00 to 16:00.

Gudauri's ski slopes are suited to skiers of every level. The total length of the slopes is 70 kilometers, spread across 20 runs. The slopes fall into four difficulty categories: beginner, intermediate, advanced, and professional. Gudauri is also a great spot for off-piste and freeride skiing, thanks to its steep terrain. The climate in Gudauri is dry, and the snow cover reaches 1–2 meters.
